Violation and Appeals Procedure

Violations and Appeal Procedure:

Any player/parent will be cleared of all violations after one year from the last violation if he/she has not committed any additional violations in that one-year period.

All game suspensions will be served at the next regularly scheduled game, scrimmage, or tournament.  All time period suspensions will include suspension from games and practices.

Investigation Procedure

Notification of alleged Code violation must be made in writing to the VEHA Board President within 30 days of the alleged incident.

A player/parent will be given notification of the alleged violation and an opportunity to respond to relevant information to the VEHA Board President.  The VEHA Board President may investigate reported incidents to substantiate the fact that there were violations.

If Code violations are determined, either from admissions made by the player/parent, or from information obtained from incident reports or other written documentation (provided by any Association member or adult witnessing or investigating the incident), the player/parent will be told of the suspension, and be subject to it immediately.

The player and his/her parent will be informed in writing of the violation and the resulting suspension.

Appeal Process

If a player/parent feels a wrong decision has been made regarding a Code violation, the appeal procedure must be followed:

A written appeal must be made for a hearing with the Board of Directors and submitted to the Secretary within 7 days of the date on the suspension letter.

As soon as possible and within 7 business days of the receipt of the appeal letter, a date for a hearing with the Board of Directors will be set.

The Board of Directors will hear the case.  Also present will be the player and his/her parent(s).  No other observers will be allowed.
   1. The player/parent will be provided with an opportunity to speak and present other evidence on his/her behalf.  The VEHA Board President will present written and verbal statements.  The BOD will be apprised of the confidentiality of the process.
   2. All but the BOD shall leave and the BOD shall vote in a confidential manner to sustain or reverse the decision being appealed.
   3. The appealing parties will be informed in writing of the decision by the BOD and may be told the results immediately.  The BOD's decision is the final level of appeal.
