Welcome to Vail Mountaineer Hockey Club!

You’re invited to the following events to learn more about the Vail Mountaineer Hockey Club (VMHC). We will be hosting three parent meetings and three skates to introduce prospective families to Mountaineer hockey.

These skates are open to any interested male/female hockey player born 2015 or earlier. We will provide information about our co-ed and girls’ programming for the 2024-2025 hockey season. 

Monday, March 11th- 6:15-7:15pm CO-ED SESSION
Mountain Recreation Eagle Pool & Ice Rink 

6:15pm- Players take the ice with Mountaineer coaches and few current 10U/Squirt players

6:30pm- Parent Meeting in the lobby area

7:15pm- Session ends

 

Tuesday, March 12th at Dobson Ice Arena- Vail 
5:00-6:00pm CO-ED SESSION

5:00pm- Players take the ice with Mountaineer coaches and a few current 10U/Squirt players

5:15pm- Parent Meeting in the Conference Room

6:00pm- Session ends

 

6:15-7:15pm GIRLS SESSION 

6:15pm- Players take the ice with Mountaineer coaches and a few current Girls 10U players

6:30pm- Parent Meeting in the Conference Room

7:15pm- Session ends

Players need FULL hockey gear to participate in these skates.

IMPORTANT: 2021-2022 RULE CHANGES

USA Hockey Playing Rule Changes

A couple of major rule changes this season:
- Players are now given a Game Misconduct if he/she receives 4 penalties in a game (used to be 5).
- The Head Coach is now suspended if the team receives 12 or more penalties in a game (used to be 15).
- All Youth/Girls levels are now prohibited from icing the puck when short handed, with the exception of High School.
- Tag up offsides has now been eliminated at all Youth/Girls levels with the exception of High School.
- Minor penalties for 12U and younger have been shortened as follows: for

periods of 12 minutes or less - penalty length is 1 minute
for periods greater than 12 minutes, but less than 17 minutes - penalty length is 1:30 minutes.
